Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival
Becket, MA
1991

A series of ten wind-activated moving sculptures were designed as vibrant visual markers along Jacob's Pillow's trail and pathways. Inspired by Chinese moon-shaped silk fans. The installation was the first of its kind to be comissioned by the Pillow in its 59 year history as a renowned dance festival.

"The fanscapes are the essence of Jacob's Pillow: fluidity of movement and a spirit of adventure that transcends the limitations of more conventional forms of expression. My idea was to superimpose the magic and surprise of modern dance and music onto bold canvases larger than life, capturing the spontaneous motion of both nature and art."
